Marianne Kiefer of West Lafayette, died Thursday, July 22, 2010 at St. Elizabeth Central in Lafayette, Indiana. The second of three children, Marianne was born May 5, 1944 to the late Bart J. Daly and Mary Catherine Woodrum Daly in Lebanon, IN. On December 31, 1992, Marianne was married to Cliff M. Kiefer in West Lafayette, who survives. In 1962, she graduated from Central Catholic High School in Lafayette, Indiana before attending Lafayette Beauty Academy. She went on to receive her cosmetology license, which led to a successful and rewarding career of 46 years as a hair designer and make-up artist. Marianne was an active member in the cosmetology community. In 1989, she became the first cosmetologist in Indiana to become certified in the Look Good Feel Better program for cancer patients. She and her colleagues then chartered a local (LGFB) program. She was a member of the Indiana Hair Fashion Committee (IHFC), Official Hair Fashion Committee (OHFC), National Cosmetology Association of Indiana (NCAI) and charter member of the Lafayette Cosmetology Affiliate #69 where she acted as President in 1997, 2003 and 2005. She was awarded Affiliate President of the Year in 1997 and 2005. She was very passionate about the continued education and advancement of hair styling and skin care which led to her involvement at the local, state and national levels. She graduated from the Cosmetology Continuing Education Program at Purdue and was an active member of the Indiana Education Committee (IEC). For many years, she taught Continuing Education classes across Indiana. Additionally, she participated in state and national hair designing competitions, receiving several awards. She also volunteered her time and expertise to the hair and make-up department for the Lafayette Civic Theater productions. Surviving with her husband are Marianne’s two children, Kendra Kay Koch of Dayton, IN and Devon Delmont Vincent of Lafayette, IN. Also surviving are an older sister, Marilynn K. Leeds of Louisville, KY and a younger brother, Bart W. Daly of Bloomington, IL. Marianne enjoyed shopping, camping, gardening and singing, but mostly enjoyed life with family, friends and colleagues. She will be greatly missed by all those who knew her. Funeral InformationVisitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Monday, July 26, 2010 at the Fisher-Loy Funeral Chapel, 914 Columbia Street, Lafayette, IN 47901.
