Rodney A. McGuire, 45, Logansport, passed away Monday, June 28, 2010, in Wabash, Indiana.

Born May 28, 1965, in Logansport, he was the son of Richard Layton and Elizabeth McGuire.

On October 14, 2000, in the Wheatland Avenue United Methodist Church, he was married to Elizabeth "Liz" Marie Hileman, who survives.

A graduate of Logansport High School, Rod was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and had attained the rank of sergeant during his tenure of service from 1984 to 1990.

Rod was employed with Haynes International in Kokomo where he worked as a machine repair apprentice. He had been attending Ivy Tech Community College, where he made the Dean's List, and was just three months from completing his machine repair apprenticeship.

An avid Chicago Bears fan, he loved camping and boating. Rod had a kind heart and would help anyone in need. He had the gift of making people laugh and he loved his friends. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family on the weekends.

Surviving with his wife are five children, Justin Allen McGuire, Logansport, Brittany (Brad) McGuire Simpson, Tennessee, Brian (Stacey) Eastham, Logansport, Broc and Shea Cook, both of Logansport; one brother, Edwin McGuire, of Crawfordsville, IN; two sisters-in-law, Dawn (Brent) Davis, and Sherry (Scott) Peterson, all of Kokomo; six grandchildren; several cousins, nieces and nephews; and many, many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; Elizabeth McGuire and Richard Layton one sister, Leticia Eastham; and his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Betty and Norman Hileman.

Funeral Information

A memorial service will held at Wheatland United Methodist Church on 10 a.m. Saturday July 3, 2010.. Friends may call one hour prior to the service.
Following the service, family and friends will have an opportunity to visit until 1:00 p.m. at the church.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Fisher Funeral Chapel.
