Aaron Michael Peacock

Aaron Michael Peacock, 45, of Lafayette, died Tuesday, February 16, 2010, in Lafayette.

Born January 19, 1965, in Lafayette, he was the son of Frederick and Frieda Peacock, who survive. In 1983, he graduated from Central Catholic High School where he played varsity football and baseball.

He graduated from Purdue University in 1988 with a degree in Engineering. While at Purdue, Aaron was active in student government, serving as president of the Purdue Off-Campus Student Organization. He was also a member of the Debating team.

In 1995, Aaron decided to change careers and entered the Graduate School of Law at Northern Illinois University. He served as a legal aid law clerk in Lafayette in 1996. In 1997, he won the NIU Moot Court competition. In 1998, he graduated with a Doctor of Jurist Prudence.

Aaron became a member of the Illinois Bar Association in 1998. He served as the Assistant State’s Attorney in Lincoln, Illinois until 2000. In 2000, he accepted a position as a Public Defender in Danville, Illinois, serving there until 2007.

He enjoyed collecting casino chips and was an active member of the Chicago Land Chippers Association. He was an avid fan of Purdue football and basketball, the Chicago White Sox, and the Pittsburgh Steelers.

He is survived by three brothers, W. Eric Peacock, of Springfield, MO, Alexander and Samuel Peacock, both of Battle Ground, IN; and one sister, Kim, of Lafayette. Also surviving are three nephews, Joel, Joshua and Elijah, of Springfield, MO.

Funeral Information

A Memorial Mass will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 20, 2010, at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Lafayette.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lafayette Urban Ministry.
